PORCELAIN WAR — an Academy Award Documentary screening

Experience Porcelain War, the Academy Award-nominated documentary and winner of the 2024 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary. Filmed amid Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Porcelain War is a visually extraordinary and deeply human story of Ukrainian resilience, cultural resistance, and the determination to preserve life, identity and creativity in the face of war. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Australian producer Camilla Mazzaferro, RMIT translation teachers and SERC members, exploring the film, its translation, and the role of language in bringing Ukrainian voices to the world.

Admission is free. Registration is essential as spaces are limited.

Watch Climate and Our Communities and join the filmmakers for reflections and discussion on climate action and its community impacts. This event centres on Climate and Our Communities, a 22-minute documentary co-produced in 2024 by researchers from UNSW Sydney and FGV (Sao Paulo) in 2024. The film follows a group of emerging researchers as they explore how global climate policies and actions are experienced by the communities they call home. WSU Parramatta Redux film screening + River Walk

To celebrate Social Sciences Week 2026, the School of Social Sciences will be screening Parramatta Redux (38 minutes), a documentary film directed and produced by Associate Professor Malini Sur. The screening will be followed by Q&A. The film explores the enduring connections between the Parramatta River and the diverse communities, past and present, that have shaped its identity.
