The theme for Monash University's 2026 School of Social Sciences Graduate Student Research Symposium is Challenges of the Age: Climate Change, Geopolitical Security, Thriving Communities. As stated in Monash's Strategic Plan, Impact 2030, we must continue to seek ways to resolve systemic social and environmental problems such as inequality and disadvantage, intolerance, discrimination, violence and environmental degradation, to get communities to flourish. The Symposium is therefore dedicated to exploring and celebrating the many ways in which we at SoSS seek to disrupt major challenges impacting us all today.
