Building resilience in the workplace through social sciences perspectives
- This event has passed.
As organisations navigate the evolving terrain of hybrid work, economic uncertainty and rising burnout, the concept of workplace resilience has gained renewed attention. Yet, what does it truly mean to be resilient at work?
This panel brings together academics who employ different social sciences perspectives to unpack how resilience can be fostered in the workplace. The discussion will explore what is meant by resilience and the social, cultural and organisational influences that impact employees’ ability to cope and thrive.
Panelists will also address common myths and misconceptions about resilience and the challenges and opprtunities that have arisen in the wake of recent and widespread workplace changes. For instance, how do shifting boundaries between work and home life affect resilience? And how might culture and interpersonal relationships foster or hinder resilience? What new forms of stress and disconnection emerge, and how can leaders and organisations proactively address these to foster positive outcomes, such as psychological safety, trust and adaptability?
This session will offer a fresh, evidence-based understanding of resilience in the workplace. It will be valuable for scholars, HR professionals, leaders, and anyone interested in creating healthier and more sustainable workplaces.
